John C. Swank

Age 88, of Minerva, died Friday, April 20, 2018 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center. He was born Dec. 26, 1929 in Minerva to Sereno and Leona (Hoover) Swank. He was a machinist for Burrows Machine and retired from TRW in Minerva where he was a Foreman for 29 years. He is a member of the Minerva First Christian Church. He graduated from Minerva High School in 1947 and was a Master Sgt. in the US Army in the Korean War. He loved playing cards with his friends every Wednesday afternoon. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and was very proud of them.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Allie (Sanor) Swank whom he married June 19, 1954, daughter, Shelley (Gary Snyder) Swank of East Rochester, son, Gary (Sharee) Swank of Minerva, sister, Kay Hanna of Minerva, 6 grandchildren; LaNay (Pete) Malaska, Britane (Matt) Bednar, Chalene (Todd Pren) Swank, Abbey (Brent) Ball, Adam and Hayley Gallina, a great grandson, Max and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Jan Swank, 2 sisters, Jean Delaney and Pat Knight and a brother, William Swank.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 7-9 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
