John C. Kohmann

Age 86, of Minerva, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2023 in the Aultman Alliance Hospital.  He was born June 7, 1937 in Canton to Frederick and Eulalia (Hoepf) Kohmann. He was owner of the Kohmann AMC Jeep Dealership in Canton from 1960-1985 and then Kohmann Chrylser Plymouth in Minerva in 1988 and Kohmann Ford in 1992.  He is a member of the St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva, Knights of Columbus in North Canton, Minerva Rotary, Minerva Chamber of Commerce and the Stark County Automobile Dealers Assoc.  He graduated from Canton Central Catholic in 1956 and was a member of the Air National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, JoAnn (Lewis) Kohmann whom he married July 13, 1957, daughter, Laura (Sean) Kelleher of Alliance, 4 sons, Mark Kohmann of Atlanta, GA, Jeffrey (Michelle) Kohmann of Hartville, John (Evelyn Picard) Kohmann of Louisville, James (Amy) Kohmann of Alliance, 5 sisters, Rosemary (Bob) Grandel of Arlington, TX, Dorothy (Don) Hager of Canton, Rita Smith of SC, Judy (Russell) Wood of Minerva, Joanne (Dean) Porr of Doylestown, 2 brothers, Lester Kohmann of Sagamore Hills, Paul (Louvain) Kohmann of Massillon, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Kohmann.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be Friday at 12 noon in St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva with Fr. Victor Cinson and Father Tom Dyer as celebrants.  Calling hours will be one hour prior to services at the church from 11am to noon.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Church.  Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
