John Norvin Clapper , 93, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, died on September 1, 2018. He was born on May 7, 1925, in Robertsville, Ohio. A graduate of Minerva High School in 1943, John was a farmer and co-owned Edith's Hat Shop and Kiddee Corner in Minerva, Ohio. On Easter Sunday, April 1945 at Christ Reformed Church, John met Doris Youtz, whom he later married on November 28, 1946. John took pride in being a long-time member of the Robertsville Grange. In 1972, John and Doris moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida, where they owned and operated Norgetown Laundromat and Dorothy K, a women's dress shop. John was a member at Lehigh Acres Christian Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Clapper, and his wife, Doris. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Pikulik of Canton; companion from his second marriage, Anne Tietje; and his 4 sons: James (Carol), Dennis (Vicki), Dale (Brenda), and Jon (Kori). In addition, he has 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service was held on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Lehigh Acres Christian Church in Florida. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 3:00 pm in Christ Memorial Church in Robertsville with viewing at 2:30 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Robertsville cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Christ Memorial Church or Hope Hospice.
