Joetta A. Leyda, age 85, of Louisville, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 in Mercy Medical Center. She was born Oct. 25, 1927 in Minerva to James and Elizabeth (Worm) Willis. She had worked at Garee Scotts in Minerva, the Louisville Dairy Queen and Burger Land in Louisville. She was a former member of the Louisville First Brethren Church, Louisville Community Choir and Louisville Garden Club.

Joetta was a talented seamstress and known for her pies. She enjoyed her weekly bowling league, a game of cards, and the challenge of a jig saw puzzle, along with cheering on her favorite sports teams, The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and watching Tiger. She had a green thumb that could always produce a beautiful blooming plant.

In addition to her parents, Joetta is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Leyda Sr. who died in 1999; a sister and 7 brothers, Agnes, James Jr., Perry, Leland, Wilbur, Ralph, Lloyd and Richard Willis. She is survived by 4 daughters, Joyce (Lynn) Spuhler of CA, Julie (Larry) Lynch of Mineral City, Jill Peterson of Louisville and Jo (Norm) Pollett of Holland, OH; 2 sons, James (Linda) Leyda Jr. of Bucyrus and Jon (Anna Marie) Leyda of Peoria, AZ; 4 brothers and sisters, Winnifred Betz of Louisville, Jane Unkefer of Columbiana, William Willis of Beloit and Robert Willis of East Rochester; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Chris Davis officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
