Joe Johnson

Age 82 of Minerva, died Thursday, September 10, 2020 in Aultman Hospital.  He was born December 7, 1937 in Minerva to Raymond and Mary (Soles) Johnson.  He graduated from Minerva High School in 1955.  He was a hammerman for Alliance Drop Forge for over 20 years and worked for American Steel in Alliance.  He was an Elder at the Minerva First Christian Church where he was a member of the 4-Square Sunday School Class; a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. In his earlier years he was involved in  Jaycees, softball and coached Bantum Football.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet (Kibler) Johnson whom he married April 7, 1957; his son Joe (Cheryl) Johnson of Massillon, 3 daughters, Michelle (Keith) Webster of East Palestine, Diana (Todd) Dougherty of Brodhead, WI, Danielle Johnson of Charlotte, NC; 2 brothers, Richard (Mary Lou) Johnson of Alliance, Larry (Brenda) Johnson of Salem, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  Joe is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Cathy Sue Johnson.

Calling hours will be held Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva.  Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Minerva First Christian Church with Brian Stoffer officiating.
