Jim Johnston, Jr.

Age 46, of Canton, died peacefully surrounded by his family after fighting a yearlong battle with melanoma. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laura, and son James, his parents, Jim and Shelda Johnston, and brother Jason Johnston.

Jim was a chemical engineer and graduated from the University of Akron. He was employed for over 20 years at Parker Hannifin.  Jim enjoyed the outdoors, his tractor, riding motorcycles, and watching trains. Most importantly, he was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Northwest church of Christ. It was his desire to live his life in such a way that others would see Christ in him and want to obey the gospel.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 6:00 pm at the Northwest Church of Christ, 3904 38th St. NW Canton with Kip Hadley officiating. Private family burial will be held at Foxfield Preserve in Wilmot.
