Jay H. Stahler
Age 86, of Canton passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025 in the Carroll Healthcare Center. He was born April 21, 1939 in Augusta to Howard and Roxie (Hole) Stahler. He worked for the Railroad and gas company. Being the jack of all trades, he also spent time installing solar panels, selling insurance and welding.
He was proud to have served his country and even prouder to be one of God's soldiers. He served the church in many capacities through teaching and leading various committees. He was the youth leader and began a puppet ministry. His main goal was that people really know and walk with Jesus.
In his younger years, he was an excellent hunter, a good horsemen, a fantastic basketball player, and a good student. His love for reading made him well educated on many topics. His adventurous side took him and his family down many streams and around the world. He worked with a boat race team who competed in the world championship. He loved sharing these things with those around him.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Kim, Tracy and Amy; 3 sisters, Mary Miller of Canton, Lois Frase of Waynesburg, Carol (Ray) Homan of Malvern and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a sister, Neva Stahler and 2 brothers, Ralph and Corwin Stahler.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Mike Bullock officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Moultrie Cemetery.
