Janet E. Boyer

Age 87, of Minerva, passed away peacefully Monday, April 1, 2024 in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton surrounded by her family, reuniting with the love of her life whom she was married for nearly 65 years. She was born Aug. 23, 1936 in Canton to Joseph and Ella (Latimer) Ecksmith. She was a strong intelligent, loving woman who had a heart of gold. She was ever so adventurous and never afraid of trying something  new. She was one of the first woman pilots in the area when she received her private pilot license in the late 70's. She loved hot air ballooning and her and her husband, Bill were once chase crew members for a local hot air balloon company. She served in the Scouting world for more than ten years alongside Bill. She made sure the family always took adventurous vacations, whether it was to the beach, canoeing a river in PA, or traversing the whole country in a car with a tent.  She could stretch a dollar five different ways and still end up with change. She was a  member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Malvern and graduated from Canton South High School in 1954.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Boyer who died in 2022, son, Gregory Boyer, and 2 brothers, Robert and Gene Ecksmith. She is survived by 3 sons, Doug (Cindi) Boyer of Minerva, Keith (Michele) Boyer of Uniontown, Steve (MaryKay) Boyer of Marysville, sister, Cindy Preiss of St. Petersburg, FL and 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home with Father Victor Cinson officiating.  Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
