James L. Morckel, age 78, of Minerva died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. He was born July 16, 1935 in Minerva to Jack Morckel and Emma (Morrow) (Morckel) Reed. He retired from Masco Tech. in Minerva where he was a supervisor for over 30 years. He is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minerva. The light of his life was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Willis) Morckel whom he married Sept. 18, 1955; 2 daughters, Jori (Mark) Ruff of Alliance and Lisha (John) Schmutz of Minerva; 2 sons, Jamie (Teresa) Morckel of Canton and Todd (Linda) Morckel of Minerva; 5 grandchildren, Tricia Morckel, Michael Phillips, Amanda Phillips, Joshua (Julie) Morckel and Toni (Eric) Troyer; 7 great grandchildren, Austin, Ryker, Madelyn, Isaak, Noah, Kellen and Grady; and his great neighbors, Bob, Cyndy, Mikka and Tara. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sam and Bob Morckel.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Stephen Woyen and Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wed. 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
