James B. Koontz II, age 58, of Minerva, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Aultman Hospital. He was born Nov. 2, 1955 in Canton to the late James and Ruth (Randall) Koontz. He was a foundry worker having worked at Mascotech in Minerva and Canton Castings. He had also worked for Sherer Foods. He was a foster parent and volunteer Malvern baseball and bantam football coach.
He is survived by his wife, Elissa (Taggart) Koontz whom he married Aug. 8, 1981; 4 daughters, Nikki Koontz of Minerva, Lexie Koontz of Bakersfield, CA, Tásha Koontz of Minerva and Katie Koontz of Minerva; 4 sons, James "Tony" (Tara) Koontz of Akron, James B. (Rachel) Koontz III of Massillon, Mitchell Koontz of Minerva and Jordan Koontz of Minerva; 5 grandchildren, Darnell Jackson II, Wyatt Koontz, Sophia, Gracie and Joshua; several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 12:00 noon in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Terry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
