James "Rick" Hanson

age 53, of Commerce Twp., MI, died Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in his home following a short illness.  He was born March 28, 1969 in Alliance to Janet (Mease) Hanson Witherspoon and the late Harry "Dick" Hanson.  He was owner of Insight Design & Technology Group in Michigan.  He was a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Michigan and was granted over 40 patents throughout his career. Rick graduated from Minerva High School in 1987, received his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron and a Master's in the Science of Engineering from Purdue University. He is a member of the Toastmasters.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Kathy (Marty) Willis of Maumee, OH; niece, Kylee (Bobby) Nguyen of Columbus; nephew, Jacob Willis of Maumee; and 2 great nephews, Aiden and Parker. He is preceded in death by his friend and companion Julie Paul.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 4:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Scott Racut officiating.  Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.  Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com .
