James L. Griffith, age 76, of Minerva, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Alliance Community Hospital. He was born Dec. 11, 1939 in Irondale, OH to James Frank and Kathleen (Williams) Griffith. He retired from Conrail where he was a conductor and brakeman, and is a retired truck driver from Kraft Maid, member of the Salineville Presbyterian Church, a 1957 graduate of Southern Local High School and US Army Veteran. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 357 in Minerva and a member of the VFW in Salineville and Minerva.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Silliman) Griffith who died Dec. 31, 2006 and a brother, Gary Griffith. He is survived by 3 daughters, Leslie Moyer of Alliance, Terri DiNarda of Hartville, and Sharon Griffith-Weyandt of Minerva; 3 sisters, Suzanne (Jack) Baker of Salineville, Linda (Bill) Forbes of Wellsville, Mary (Bill) McClelland of Wadsworth; a brother, Bill (Kay) Griffith of Atlanta, GA; 6 grandchildren, Amber, Kerri, Anthony, Gina, Eli, Brody; 3 great grandchildren, Emma, Logan & Harlow.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva, with Private family services to follow. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.
