James L. Boord, age 76, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 in the Great Trail Care Center in Minerva. He was born Nov. 24, 1937 in East Rochester to Frank and Edna (Wickersham) Boord. He retired from Elgers Plumbing in Salem. He is a member of the New Philadelphia Salvation Army and a 1955 graduate from Minerva High School, a US Air Force Veteran, member of Sebring Lodge #626 F&AM and a 20 year heart transplant survivor.
He is preceded in death by his wives, Mary Ann Boord and Elizabeth (Mays) Boord; 2 sisters, Martha Hawk and Elizabeth Betz; 4 brothers, Wayne, Edwin, and Robert Boord and Frank Boord Jr. He is survived by a sister, Carolyn Sturms of Minerva and many nieces and nephews.
According to his wishes, there are no formal services. Following cremation, burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Alliance.
