Hazel D. McCartney
Age 85, of Minerva died Friday May 17, 2013 in the Great Trail Care Center in Minerva. She was born Jan. 25, 1928 in Canton to Lawrence and Mabel (Wilson) Sanford. She had worked for Cronin China and retired from TRW after 27 years of service. She is a member of Baxter's Ridge United Methodist Church and the VFW Aux. #4120 in Minerva.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth McCartney, a sister, Dorothy Zimmerman; 3 brothers, Leon, John and Larry Sanford, and a great granddaughter, Ashley Dickson. She is survived by 2 daughters, Bonnie (James) Snively of East Rochester and Sandy Maley Dickson of Minerva; 4 sisters, Donna Johnson of Lisbon, Marjorie Hixenbaugh of Minerva, Mary (Bert) Brunk of East Sparta and Joyce Roshon of CA; 2 brothers, Donald "Tiny" Sanford of Carrollton and Robert (Carol) Sanford of Carrollton, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12 noon in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. John Maley officiating. Burial will be in Baxter's Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour prior to services.
