Harold L. Reed
Age 84, of Robertsville, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 5, 1938 in Waynesburg to Ray and Ruth (Clapper) Reed. He retired from the Timken Company where he had worked for 36 years. He was a baseball, softball, fast pitch and high school softball umpire for 30 years and was inducted into the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame for slow-pitch softball in 2011. He is a member of the Christ Memorial Church in Robertsville, a US Army Veteran, a 1957 graduate of Sandy Valley High School, a member of the New Lisbon Lodge #65 F&AM in Lisbon, and the Waynesburg American Legion Post 432.
He is survived by 4 sons, Dennis (Rhonda) Reed of East Canton, Danny (Amy) Reed of Robertsville, Andrew Reed (Nick Dahl) of Canton, Timothy Reed of Robertsville, sister, Linda Young of Magnolia, brother, Ralph Reed of Waynesburg, 2 grandchildren Ryan (Rochelle) Reed of Massillon, Rachel (Jay) Domer of Canton and 4 great grandchildren MacKenzie Steiner, Nathaniel Reed, Lucas Reed and Obadiah Reed. He is preceded in death by his siblings Virgil Reed, Viola Kail, Verl Reed, Helen Cross, Ray Reed Jr., Donald Reed, Jim Reed and Evelyn Leichtamer.
Funeral services with military honors will be Friday at 5:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Jonathan Arnold officiating. Calling hours will be Friday 2 hours prior to services from 3-5 pm. Those wishing may join the family for celebration of life dinner, at Christ Memorial Church in Robertsville after the service.
