Harold Bracken, age 89, of Canton, died Thursday, February 9, 2012, in the Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton. He was born February 10, 1922 in Canton, Ohio to Paul and Goldie (McDaniels) Bracken. He worked as a car repairman on the Norfolk and Western Railroad, worked for Meadows Escort and Limousine Service, was a US Air Corp. Veteran of WWII, a member of the McKinley Eagles Aerie #2370 and the VFW Post #3747 in Canton. He was also a very active member of the Faith Community Church in Canton.
He is preceded in death by his wife Helen (Dye) Bracken who died in 1991; a daughter, Judith Knop; 3 sisters, Twila Reed, Ester Shields, Betty Schneider; 4 brothers, Ken, Orland, Art and Paul Bracken; and a granddaughter, Shannon Bracken.
He is survived by a son, Rev. Harold Bracken II and wife Brenda of Forest City, NC; 2 sisters, Margaret Dare, Audrey Kirkpatrick; 3 brothers, Harry, Jim and Bob Bracken; 5 grandchildren, William Knop, Kelly Villard, Cara Pyles, Angela Duncan, Harold Bracken III; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday in the Faith Community Church in Canton with Pastor Glen Osborn officiating. Burial with full military services will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church.
