H. Dale Miller
Age 85, of Minerva, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 after a short illness. He was born March 16, 1929 in Minerva to James and Corrine (Myers) Miller. Dale was a lifetime resident of the Minerva area and a 1947 graduate of Minerva High School. He served four years in the US Army during the Korean War before returning home and obtaining employment at the Minerva Wax Paper and worked there until they closed as the James River Company in 1993. A long time active member of the Minerva First Christian Church, Dale was active through the years in scouts, little league baseball, Habitat for Humanity and countless projects at the church. Dale loved to camp, fish, garden and bicycle. He is a member of the American Legion Post #357 in Minerva.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, C. Jean (Wentling) Miller whom he married Feb. 22, 1964, 2 sons, Dave (Leslie) Miller of Alexandria, VA and Jim (Tina) Miller of Springfield, 2 grandchildren, Lauren and Nick Miller, five nieces, 3 nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Delbert and Olen Nestrick.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Minerva First Christian Church with Rev. Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 6-8 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
