Obituary

Glen E. Benedict, age 76, of Malvern, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 in the Cleveland Clinic. He was born April 5, 1938 in Minerva to Fred and Louise (Schmidt) Benedict. He retired from PCC Airfoils in Minerva where he had worked for 39 years. He is a member of the Malvern United Methodist Church and was a former President and longtime member of the Malvern park board and was very proud to serve for many years as a hot stove baseball coach and made lifelong friends with many of his players. He is a US Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Currie) Benedict whom he married Dec. 9, 1956; daughter, Kaaren (Gayle) Sevek of Carrollton; son, Randy (Shari) Benedict of Canton; sister, Betty Benedict of Malvern; brother, Wayne Benedict of KY; 7 grandchildren, Brittany Long, Brooke Manzella, Bethany Sevek, Abby, Jacob, Emily and Joseph Benedict; and a great grandson, Diesel Long. He is preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Benedict and 4 brothers, Clinton, Fred, Kenneth and Paul Benedict.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Allen Hill officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 6-8 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Village of Malvern for the Park Fund.
