Gilmore W. Bennett
age 86, of Mineral City, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 from injuries sustained in a tractor accident. He was born Aug. 31, 1934 in Huntingdon, PA to Harry and Julialee (Waltz) Bennett. He worked in a brickyard for 17 years, in the oilfields for 13 years and did maintenance for the New Dawn Nursing Home for 9 years. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1952 and was a member of the US Naval Reserves for 20 years where he was a Fireman 1st class. Gil was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and a member of the Zoar United Church of Christ. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend. He will be so missed.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn (Lippincott) Bennett whom he married Dec. 24, 1953, daughter, Tanya Baker of Magnolia, son Rick (Vickie) Bennett of Kensington, daughter-in-law, Tammy Bennett of New Philiadelphia, sister, Caroline Bennett of Montanna, 3 brothers, Bruce Bennett of East Rochester, Allen (Junette) Bennett of Canfield, Kenneth (Lynnda Arrasmith) Bennett of Kensington, sister-in-law, Judy Lippincott of Alliance, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Jeff Bennett, 3 sisters, Joyce Striano, Winona Guthrie, Larue Amelung and a brother, Gary Bennett.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Jeff Shultz and Pastor John States officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's or the Zoar United Church of Christ.
