Gerald "Jerry" Rue
Age 84 of Minerva died Sat. June 18, 2011 in the Carroll Golden Age Retreat. He was born Feb. 10, 1927 in Minerva to Harry and Jennie (Brothers) Rue. He retired from the Minerva Post Office in 1986 after 30 years of service. He is a member of the Minerva First Christian Church, was a WWII US Army Veteran, graduate of Minerva High School in 1945, social member of the Minerva VFW Post #4120, member Tubal Lodge #551 F&AM, Carroll Chapter #315 OES, and was a 18 year member of the Minerva Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence "Flossie" (Nagey) Rue whom he married June 9, 1950, two daughters; Sally (Tom) Davies of Minerva and Karla Truxall of Columbus, son; Jim (Scarlet) Rue of N. Canton, sister; Donna Mason of Minerva, brother-in-law; Bill Severn of Minerva, 7 grandchildren; Derek and Jason Davies, Travis, Tyler, Tara, Taylor and Tessa Rue and a great granddaughter; Morgan Davies. He is preceded in death by three sisters; Velma Parks, Mable Severn and Dorothy Morrow and four brothers; Carl, Ross, Edgar and Donald Rue.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Ralph Norman officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 6-8 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Minerva First Christian Church or the Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice
