Gerald Burkhart

Age 70 of Malvern, died Monday July 4, 2011 in his home following a 21 year battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 15, 1941 in Canton to Wilma (Fulks) Burkhart of Malvern and the late Albert Burkhart. He was an engineer for American Axle and Colfor for 40 years. He graduated from Malvern High School in 1959, and graduated from the
American Technical Institute. He is a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Malvern, was in the Army National Guard for 6 years, was a member of the Malvern Jaycee's where he was Jaycee of the year. He is a member of the N.R.A. and was an avid trap shooter with over 1.6 million shots recorded.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by sister, Betty (Bob) Santucci of Minerva, niece Tammy (Mike) Johnson of Greensboro, NC, great niece and great nephew, Katie and Taylor Johnson.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 am in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Malvern with Fr. Victor Cinson as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 6-8 pm at the church. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice, Janet Lemon, Bill Hall and the Robert Crowl Family for all of their wonderful care.
