George L. Smith, age 87, of Robertsville, died Wed., Nov. 13, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 5, 1926 in Youngstown to George and Olive (Wright) Smith. He retired from Campbell Oil Co. in Massillon where he was a furnace technician. He had also worked at Glen-Gery in East Canton. He is a member of the Minerva First Christian Church, a former member of the New Franklin Ruritan Club and a graduate of Minerva High School.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jerrie (McGrath) Smith whom he married Aug. 7, 1948; 3 sons, Timothy (Diane) Smith of Minerva, Kenneth (Miranda) Smith of Alliance and Craig Smith of the home; sister, Bethea Pallone of Orlando, FL; brother-in-law, Olen Walker of Paris; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister, Lois Walker.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison
Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Terry Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
