Gene W. Sechrest

Age 71, of East Rochester, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2022. He was born on December 11, 1950 in Bellaire, OH to the late Gene and Genevieve (Walker) Sechrest.

After graduating from Bellaire High School, Gene received his Bachelor's in Education from Ohio University. After teaching special education in southeastern Ohio, he transitioned into the manufacturing industry, working in purchasing for Cooper Industries, and then as plant manager for Diebold Corporation in Canton, OH for many years. In 2006, Gene received his Master's in Special Education from Youngstown State University and returned to his passion of teaching special education at Malvern Elementary School, retiring in 2016. In retirement, Gene enjoyed working outside, his Dodge Ram, cooking, having a cold beer, fishing with his buddies, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kathleen (Sobers) Sechrest, 5 daughters, Carly (Chuck) Bell of Salt Lake City, UT, Gretchen (Caleb) Congrove of New Marshfield, OH, Shannon Sechrest of St. Clairsville, OH, Emily Sechrest of Morgantown, WV, Genny Sechrest of Morgantown, WV, and 10 grandchildren, Camryn, Charlie, Stella, Harry, Walt, Owen, Chloe, Lucy, Auggie, and Finnegan, as well as his loving canine companion Sherman.
