Gary R. Leatherberry

Age 77, of Augusta, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026 in Aultman Hospital. He was born December 17, 1948 in Canton to Dean and Josephine (Courtheyn) Leatherberry. Gary graduated from Carrollton High School in 1966 and the Akron Barber College. He is a US Army Veteran having also served in the National Guard and the US Army Reserves. He was a barber for many years having owned Gary’s Barber Shop in Minerva.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie (Cook) Leatherberry whom he married Dec. 31, 2010, 2 stepdaughters, Deanna Plumley, Ronee (John) Trussel, 2 stepsons, Rodney and Randy Kurzinsky, brother, Raymond (Dorothy Thomas) Leatherberry, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and his favorite dog, “Chevy”. He is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Joyce Handwork and Gaye Savory and a nephew.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 12 noon in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Dave Haught officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Augusta Cemetery.
