Gary R. Bell, age 81, of Minerva passed away Wed. Aug. 31, 2016 in his home surrounded by loved ones after a short illness. He was born Jun 26, 1935 in Minerva to Raymond and Grace (Markley) Bell. He retired from PCC Airfoils in Minerva. He loved following his children and grandchildren in sports, cross country, basketball, track, baseball, soccer and dance. He played football and basketball at Minerva High School where he graduated in 1955 and ranks 17th all time scorer in Basketball.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharlene (Cook) Bell who died in 2010 whom he loved with all his heart and has missed her dearly, 4 sisters, Jeanne Smith, Marilyn Dexter, Gloria Vint, Thelma Bell and a brother, Kenneth Bell. He is survived by daughter, Teri (Brody) Hollar of Minerva, 2 sons, Brad (Gina) Bell of Louisville, Kevin (Tracey) Bell of East Rochester, sister, Dolores Patterson, brother, David Bell, 7 grandchildren, Shanna (Rob) Clemens, Dirk (Carrie) Hollar, Lyndsay (Adam) Strobel, Tyler (Tyler Ann) Hollar, Chad, Drew and Chelsea Bell, 8 great grandchildren, Cali and Cash Clemens, Keegan and Greyson Hollar, Phoenix and Griffen Hollar, Reese Bell and Lani Strobel and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving and dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 9th at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Brooke Apple officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, 5-8 pm and one hour prior to services. The family would like to thank Julie King and Aultman Hospice for all their care, memorials can be made to the Aultman Hospice.
