Gary W. Archer

Age 76, of Minerva, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 12, 2024 in Aultman Hospital after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 27, 1947 in Canton to Wade and Ruth (Draher) Archer. He was a tower crane operator for the Local #18 Operating Engineers out of Akron. He is a member of the International Order of Operating Engineers. He graduated from Minerva High School in 1965 and is a US Army Veteran having served three tours in Vietnam. He is a member of the VFW Post #4120, Minerva American Legion Post #357, he was an avid bowler and was a member of the National Hot Rod Association.

He is survived by his wife, Alice (Orr) Archer whom he married March 25, 1972, daughter Allyson (Luke) Courtenay of Massillon, son, Shawn (Christa) Archer of East Rochester, 4 step sons, Derek (Melissa) Martin of GA, Devon (Holli) Martin of Middletown, Duane (Christine) Martin of Salineville, Dan Martin of Bradenton, FL, 4 grandchildren, Colleen (Connor) Archer -Reese of Cleveland Heights, Ian Archer of Canton, Meg Archer of Canton, Kassadee Archer of East Rochester, 21 step grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren Elliott Archer and Addison Archer both of Canton, and 20 step great- grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Zach Long officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be Thursday 2 hours prior to the service from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home.
