Foster M. Hines, age 101, of Minerva, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 in the Minerva Eldercare Center in Minerva. He was born Feb. 16, 1912 in Minerva, OH to the late Frank and Clara (Myers) Hines. He had worked at the American Switch, and retired from Metropolitan Brick after 18 years or service and then worked for PCC Airfoils for 8 ½ years and was the Owner/Operator of the Star Motel in Minerva for 42 years. He was a member of the Minerva First Christian Church, was a US Army veteran of WWII where he served in the south pacific in the 11th Airborn Div. and was a 1931 graduate of Minerva High School. He was a member of the Minerva Historical Society, the Minerva AARP, American Legion Post #357, Minerva Classic Travelers Club and the Canton Horseless Carriage Club.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Carl) Hines who died in 2008.
He is survived by a daughter, Vivian Hines of Port St. Lucie, FL; special friend, Denny Elliott of Canton; 2 nieces, Shirley Schaefer of Uniontown and Barbara Almasy of Mt. Clemens, MI; a nephew, George (Barbara) Carl of Milford, OH; friends, Sherrill Skaggs and Bill Palmer.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Ralph Norman officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services at the
