Evelyn M. Hahlen

Age 98, of Canton, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022 in the Canton Christian Home. She was born Sept. 13, 1923 in Cleveland to Ora and Elizabeth (Heyer) Lutz.  She was a meat cutter at Niuman Meats in Minerva and worked in Food Service at Johnson University for 17 years.  She is a member of River Tree Christian Church, Lake Campus.  Formerly a member of the Minerva First Christian Church where she was a member of the Home Department, a former Deaconess, and member of the U&I Sunday School Class and church choir.  She was also a member of the United Transportation Union Ladies Aux.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hahlen who died in 2007, 2 brothers, Walter and Ellsworth Lutz, sister, Dorothy Chilcott and 2 half-brothers, Clarence and Lawrence. She is survived by 2 sons, Charles (Connie) Hahlen of Uniontown, Mark (Brenda) Hahlen of Dallas, TX, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday March 16 ^th at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pat Hartson officiating.  Calling hours will be Tuesday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Hahlen Family Heritage Scholarship Fund.  Checks may be made to Johnson University and mailed to 7900 Johnson Dr., Knoxville, TN 37998.
