Eldon "Ike" Clapper

Age 83, of Minerva, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 in Minerva Healthcare Center. He was born Nov. 26, 1938 in Minerva to Russell and Martha (Haines) Clapper. He retired from PCC Airfoils in Minerva after 42 years of service.  He had also worked for Coca-Cola in Canton and the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home and the Minerva Ambulance Co.  He was a member of the Minerva volunteer Fire Department for 32 years.  He is a member of the Northeast Ohio 2-Cylinder Club and the Ohio 2-Cylinder Club.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice "Bunny" Clapper in 2013 and a brother, Duane Clapper. He is survived by 2 sons, John (Rhonda) Clapper of Canton, Richard (Loretta) Clapper of Massillon, 2 sisters, Twila Schmidt of CA, Charlotte Reynolds of Magnolia,  grandchildren, Ashleigh (Jim) Fittro of Canton South, Lyndsey Wagner of Fort Wayne, IN, Rich Clapper Jr. of NC, Stephanie Clapper of Cleveland, 3 great grandchildren, Morgan Fittro, Conrad Wagner Jr. and Natalie Wagner.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen and Rich Clapper Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Thursday 6-8 pm in the funeral home where the Sandy Creek Fire District (Minerva Fire Dept.) will conduct the firefighters last alarm service at 8:00 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandy Creek Fire District.
