Elden J. Sluss

Age 89, of Paris, passed away, Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023. He was born July 3, 1934 in East Canton to William and Gladys (Ake) Sluss.  He retired from Sears and Roebuck after 38 years of service and was a farmer and loved tending to the garden on the farm with his wife.  He graduated from Minerva High School in 1952.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Delores (Dourm) Sluss, daughter, Lauri (Randy) Phillips of Annapolis, MD, 2 sons, Kenneth (Gladys) Sluss of Pickerington, Steve (Brenda) Sluss of Paris, sister, Carol (Richard) Singer of OK, 6 grandchildren; Samuel (Lauren) Sluss, Julie (Jonathan) Layman, Chad (Stephanie) Phillips, Amber Phillips, Emily (Jason) Thompson, John Sluss and 8 great grandchildren; Isaac and Benjamin Phillips, Carson and Austin Layman, Owen, Alaina and Allen Sluss and Henry Thompson.  He is preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Fimple and 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt and Oliver Thompson.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers for their wonderful kindness over these last few months, Debbie Durst, Michelle Green, Laney Wickersham, Sherry Whitacre, Rhonda Arkenburgh, Marianne Bentfield, Judy Knoch, Morgan Berry and Marissa Winkler.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Nick Whitacre officiating.  Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Thursday one hour prior to services from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
