Dr. Edward C. Libbey,
age 73, known in Minerva as a gentle dentist, lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016. He was born Jan. 15, 1943 in Akron to Edward N. and Jean (Krause) Libbey. He practiced dentistry in Minerva for 36 years with Dr. John Snively and Dr. Ronald Gade. He graduated from Ellet High School in 1961, received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Akron in 1964 and his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Case Western Reserve in 1968. He is a US Army Veteran of Vietnam where he served in the Dental Corp. He was active in St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva and volunteerism, notably, spending 10 Summers practicing dentistry at Farm of the Child Orphanage in Honduras and building with Habitat for Humanity.

A kind and loving soul, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judith (Palur) Libbey whom he married Dec. 19, 1964; 2 sons, Brian and Brad; their wives Emily and Heather; 2 granddaughters, Grace and Daisy; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Karen Libbey.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be Friday, Nov. 25, at 12 noon in the St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva with Fr. Victor Cinson as celebrant. Calling hours will be held from 10:30- 12 noon prior to services.
