Edgar Junior Gartrell, age 85, of Melbourne, FL and Carrollton, OH died Monday, April 18, 2016 in Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne, FL. He was born February 1, 1931 in Carrollton to Edgar and Myrtle (Hoopes) Gartrell. He worked as an Electrician for Republic Steel, was a US Army Veteran having served with the 63rd Tank Battalion, and attended the Alliance First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Betty (Sparks) Gartrell whom he married Dec. 27, 1951; 3 daughters, Janet (Michael) Wise of Homeworth, Barbara (Rod) Kerr of Melbourne, FL, Jo Ann (Hasan) Tzduyar of Sarasota, FL; a son, Brad (Lynnette) Gartrell of Greenville, SC; a sister, Kate Patterson of Carrollton; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Anna McAllister; a brother, Donald Gartrell.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Rhodes officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
