Dorothy (Wood) Butler, age 92, of Lisbon, died Thurs., Oct. 2, 2014. She was born Feb. 7, 1922 in Canton to Herbert and Freda (Hager) Burleson. She was raised by her parents Harry and Freda Simmons. She was a machine operator at Good Roads in Minerva and a janitor and switchboard operator at the Columbiana County Court House. She had also been the club house manager at Edgewater Golf Course.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Russell E. Wood Sr. and Irvin Butler, stepson, Paul Butler, ½ sister Shirley Schmidt, stepsister, Harriet Ramser, brother, Herbert William Burleson. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann (Tom) Andrews of Chester, WV, 2 sons, Russell (Judy) Wood Jr. of Minerva and Thomas (Cheryl) Wood of East Liverpool, 2 stepsons, Greg (Ann) Butler of Dunedin, FL, Matt (Sheree) Butler of Minerva, 5 grandchildren; Sonia Ankeny of Hanoverton, Michael Wood of Medina, Rob (Heather) Wood of Kent, Chad (Sara) Wood of Winona and Kelly (Tony) Capra of Munson, stepgrandchildren, Angie (Christopher) Modranski, Cassie (Matthew) Nicholas and Dustin Butler and 8 great grandchildren; John Saltsman, Grace, Cade, Brenna, Cole and Izzi Wood, Benjamin and Samuel Capra; also survived by a brother-in-law, Carl Schmidt; sister-in-law, Jean Burleson; several nieces and nephews; and several half siblings in North Carolina.

There are no formal services, following cremation, a gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, Oct. 12th from 2-4 pm in the social hall at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708-1423.
