Donald Walter, Age 89, of Minerva, died Monday September 14, 2015 in Minerva Eldercare. He was born Oct. 15, 1925 in Minerva to J. Carl and Edna (Thompson) Walter. He had worked for the Minerva Wax Paper and retired from Buckeye Biscuit in Akron. He is a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, US Army Veteran and member of American Legion Post #357 in Minerva, AARP, past master of Tubal Lodge #551 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, past master of Bayard Grange in Minerva and a past president of the Minerva Kiwanas.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley (Anthony) Walter whom he married Sept. 12, 1948, daughter, Barbara (John) (Walter) Stamps of Canton, son, Terry (Diane) Walter of Alliance, sister, Hazel Bashaw of N. Canton, brother, Kenneth Walter of FL, 4 grandsons and 7 great grandchildren.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. John Carpenter officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to services from 6-7pm.
