Donald S. Smith

Age 71, of Hanoverton, died Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Aultman Hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1951 in Canton to the late Ira and Doris (Beatty) Smith Jr. He retired from Republic Steel where he had worked for over 20 years. He is a US Army Vietnam Veteran and a member of the VFW and former member of the Minerva Eagles.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Karp) Smith who died in 2001 and 2 granddaughters, Leigha and Cally Gross. He is survived by 4 daughters, Kellie Gross (Jerry Smith) of Canton, Stacey (Rickey) Midcap of Canton, Cristy (Michael) Donofrio of Louisville, Leisa (Steven) Ohler of East Sparta, sister, Patricia (Bill) Foster of Canton, 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Steven, and Kaleb Gross, Ashley Midcap, a great granddaughter, Luna and his companion, Betty Sherwood of Hanoverton.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Bethesda Cemetery in Hanoverton. Calling hours will be Monday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
