Donald "Dick" Peterson
Age 91, of Minerva passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at his home. He was born December 1, 1925 in Minerva, Ohio. He was the youngest son of the late Grant E. and Vera (Grunder) Peterson. Dick graduated from Minerva High School in 1943. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the United State Navy. He proudly served in WWII from 1943-1946. He served on the USS Cleveland in the Pacific theatre. After the service, Dick worked on the Railroad, for TRW, and White Engines. He also was a real estate agent and refinished and sold antiques. He loved horses, watching football and spending time with his family. He is a member of the Minerva First Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margaret "Peg" (Jenkins) Peterson, and brother, Theodore Peterson. He is survived by 3 daughters, Judy (Alan) Snode of Mt. Vernon, Gloria (Bob) Spafford of Richmond, KY, and Nancy (Tim) Tarbet of Minerva; Sister, Catherine (Bob) Walker of Claysville, PA; Brother, Hugh (Charity) Peterson of Minerva; 2 grandsons, Keith (Duane) Snode and Kevin (Stephenie) Snode; 6 granddaughters, Pamela (Cory) Thompson, Lesley (Dave) Perlberg, Nicole (Chris) Holian, Tiffany (David) Rogers, Tracey (Ben) Spafford and Denise (Joe) Strong, as well as fourteen great grandchildren.
Following cremation, a private family service will be held at Moultrie Chapel Cemetery with full Military Honors at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Minerva Senior Center.
