Delores "Dolly" Sluss

Age 91, of Minerva, passed away Monday, September. 1, 2025 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 12, 1934, in Beaver Falls, PA to Guy and Beulah (Reisinger) Dourm.  She graduated from Minerva High School in 1952.

Dolly was baptized on April 21,1974 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was among the very first members of the Minerva congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her faith was very important to her.

She was a homemaker and a farmer's wife. She loved living on the farm and tending to her huge garden with her loving husband, Elden Sluss, 72 years. Dolly had a deep love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Rose Mary Rhodes, two brothers, Guy R. Dourm Jr. and Robert E. Dourm, two great grandchildren Wyatt M. and Oliver S. C. Thompson. She is survived by a daughter, Lauri (Randy) Phillips of Annapolis, MD, two sons, Kenneth (Gladys) Sluss of Pickerington, Steve (Brenda) Sluss of Paris, two sisters, Charlotte E. Dourm of FL, Sandra K. Menegay of Louisville, six grandchildren; Samuel (Lauren) Sluss, Julie (John) Layman, Chad (Stephanie) Phillips, Amber Phillips, Emily (Jason) Thompson, John Sluss and eight great grandchildren; Isaac and Benjamin Phillips, Carson and Austin Layman, Owen, Alaina and Allen Sluss and Henry Thompson.

The family would like to thank Dolly's caregivers, who cared for her and Elden over the past three years, Michelle Green, Rhonda Arkenburg, Sherry Whitacre, Robin and Miyah Douglass, Shyla Markley, Daisi Pearce, Stephanie Huth, Debbie Durst and Judy Knoch.

Calling hours will be on Friday September 12th at 2:00 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 pm at Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Nicholas Whitacre officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery with a reading and poem by her eldest son Kenneth Sluss.
