David A. "Doc" Dray
Age 65, of Mechanicstown, died Thursday, May 6, 2021 in the Cleveland Clinic-Mercy Hospital in Canton. He was born May 2, 1956 in Dennison, the son of Margaret (Barth) Dray of Uniontown and the late Glen K. Dray. He worked for Cartvertising Indoor Media and taught many CCW classes at Two Tall Oaks Training Academy. Dave served in both the US Air Force and the US Army. He was President of the Minerva Lions Civic Club and former longtime member of the Minerva Lions Club; lifetime member of the Carroll County Historical Society; and lifetime member of the NRA. He was a member of the American Legion Post #357 in Minerva and St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville, where he was the former organist and sang in the choir. He loved trains and helped maintain the display at the Algonquin Mill Festival for many years. Dave was a larger than life person, who always had a smile on his face, a laugh that would light up a room, and was always there to help someone. He was also an avid history buff and could tell you when something was inaccurate in a movie or on TV.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his Loving wife Pam (Schmitz) Dray whom he married Oct. 13, 1990; brother, James (Christine) Dray of Uniontown, children Melissa Genshaw of Alliance, Erin (Will) Jameson of Bellville, IL, Dan (Penny) Myers II of Warren, Jeannie (Jared Bendis) Myers of Cleveland, grandfather of 8; Dan Myers III, Richard Myers II, Halona White, Morgan Myers, Madison Myers, Megan Myers, Makayla Genshaw and Emma Myers and his lifelong best friend, Father Robert Miller.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6-9 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva where military honors by the Carroll County Honor Guard will be at 7:00 pm. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. Those wishing to make monetary donations should make them to Wathey's Train Station @ The Algonquin Mill.
