David O. Casper

Age 79, of Minerva, died Sat. July 13th, 2013 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born Feb. 26, 1934 in Malvern to Gregory and Katharine (Booth) Casper. He retired from Union Metal in Canton and had worked for Good Roads Machinery in Minerva. He was a 1952 graduate of Malvern High School and a US Army Veteran. He is a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva and a 3rd degree, Knights of Columbus Council #11380 in Minerva. An avid golfer, he enjoyed his Tuesday night golf league at Edgewater Golf Course and his Friday retirees golf league. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mary Jo and good friends Clark and Louise Criss. He and Mary Jo enjoyed spending time with their good friends and neighbors, Robert and Janet Colloredo.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Jo (Foltz) Casper whom he married in 1960; 2 brothers, Joseph (Lorene) Casper of Malvern and Gregory (Helen) Casper of Charlotte, NC, sister, Sara (Bruce) Pumphrey of N. Canton, sister-in-law, Jeannie Casper of Canton and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 4 sisters, Dorothy Ann Serafini, Flora Casper, Marie Kocher and Sister Laurentine (Marcella) Casper, and brother James Casper.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 am in St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva with Fr. Victor Cinson as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Francis Catholic Church Cemetery in Malvern. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 pm at St. Gabriel Catholic Church and one hour prior to services. The family would like to thank the staffs of Mercy Hospital, and the ICU, Select Care and Hospice for all their wonderful care.
