Dana Lee Leyda

It is with great sadness the family of Dana Leyda announce his passing, Age 78, of Kensington, passed away at his home Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025. He was born Jan. 5, 1947 in Minerva to Mervin and Lillian (Beverly) Leyda. He started driving truck in 1973 and became an Owner Operator in 1983 until present. He is a 1965 graduate of Minerva High School and a US Marine and Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Miller) Leyda whom he married Jan. 17, 1981, daughter, Jessica (Chris) Rotondo of Malvern, son, Jason (Jennifer) Leyda of Bedford, TX, sister, Sondra Leggett of Fairborn, OH, 2 grandchildren, Emory (Taylor) Phillips, Grant Leyda and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many very treasured friends and a yellow lab named Ellee.

He enjoyed classic cars, action movies, reading and playing euchre at family gatherings. His journey on earth was marked by hard work, helping others & loving his family.  We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended but the way it was lived and the impact it had on the lives of many who had the pleasure of knowing him. Semper Fi, Always Faithful described his devotion to those he loved.

"If your not the lead dog, the scenery never changes" was also a favorite saying of his.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Robert Miller officiating followed by full military honors.  Calling hours will be Thursday 6-8 pm in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to: Basilica of Saint John 627 McKinley  Ave NW, Canton  Ohio 44703.
