C. Clifford Carpenter, age 78, of Minerva died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 27, 1934 in Leon, WV to the late Joseph and Phoebe (White) Carpenter. He was a welder for many years, retiring from Gregory Industries where he had worked from 1982-2001, and had also worked for Morgan Engineering and MaComber's. He is a member of the Minerva Eagles Aerie #2199.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alma (Robinson) Carpenter whom he married Dec. 5, 1955, daughter, Bonita (Campradt) Manning of Salem, a son, Dennis Carpenter of East Canton, sister, Martha Wallace of Canton, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 6 brothers, Roy, Lee, Darnell, Seibert, Ray and Greely Carpenter and a grandson, Scott Carpenter.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.
