Obituary

Clarence VanMeter

Age 99, of Minerva, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025 in the Minerva Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Jan. 5, 1926 in Malvern to Austin and Elizabeth (Fry) VanMeter. He retired from Metropolitan Industries in Canton as a Supervisor.  He is a US Marine Corps Veteran of WWII serving in Okinawa First Division, Second Platoon and is a lifetime member of the Minerva VFW Post #4120.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Murphy) VanMeter who died in 2011, 4 sisters, Bessie Dieringer, Lucy Miller, Florence Sokol and Elma Lucas and 3 brothers, Carl, Earl and Dwight VanMeter.  He is survived by 2 sons, Terry (Marchand) VanMeter of Tallmadge, Mark VanMeter of Minerva, grandsons, Brock (Carrie) VanMeter, great granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace VanMeter.

A graveside service will be Friday, May 30th at 11:00 am in Bethlehem Cemetery in Malvern with full military honors.  Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
