Clarence E. Rummell, age 81, of Paris, died Friday, June 26, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 11, 1933 in Paris to David and Anna (Orr) Rummell. He was owner and operator of the family business that his father, David started, Rummell Lumber Co. and worked the family dairy farm, Rummell Farms Inc. He was in the last class in the Fox Ave. one room school house and then graduated from Minerva High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and member of the FFA where he received the Chapter Award for Soil Conservation and the State Farmers Award. He is a member of the Stark County Farm Bureau and a fan of Marty Stuart. He looked forward to and was never one to miss a good April Fool's Day. He loved gardening, cooking for family get togethers and tinkering around the house and the farm. He was definitely a jack of all trades.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Glenda (Grimes) Rummell who died March 12, 2015; a sister, Dorothy Rummell; brother, Jim Rummell; and a great granddaughter, Calliope Mathes. He is survived by 5 daughters,Diana (Larry) Palmer of Minerva, Lesa (Wade) LaForce of Vermillion, Connie Rummell of Paris, Tracy (Delmar) Smith of Beloit and Trudy (Jim) Mehl of Alliance; son, Edward (Paula) Rummell of Paris; 2 brothers, Arthur Rummell of Carrollton and Marion (Vera) Rummell of Paris; 13 grandchildren; Chris (Kim) Rummell of, Chad (Gina) Rummell, Daniel (Tiffany) Palmer, Kyle Palmer, Ryan (Courtney) Mathes, Austin (Jill) Mehl, Allie (Joe) LaForce-Smith, Jack LaForce, Casey (Derek) Smith, Emily (Ross) Greiner, AuBree LaForce, Dean Rummell and Sheridan Rummell; and 10 great grandchildren, Lucas, Laila, Kaylee, Lily, Addison, Violet, Oriana, Owen, Mehlody and Corine and 2 on the way. A special thank you to Jodie, Penny, Mike and the Alliance Visiting Nurse Assoc. and Hospice for all of their help.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Sue DeHoff officiating.
Burial will be in Freeburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 5-8 pm and one hour prior to services on Friday.
