Christopher L. Kernen

Age 46, of Minerva, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 in the Cleveland Clinic.  He was born Sept. 20, 1978 in Weirton, WV to Bill Kernen and the late Rose (Miller) Kernen. He graduated from Glen Oak High School.  He was a kitchen manager at Mountaineer Park for 10 years and had been a cook at the Bluffs. In February of 2024 he received his Corrections Officer Training in Columbus and had been working as a corrections officer in Youngstown.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his companion of 11 years, Erin Merrick of Minerva, sister, Jessica Masters of New Cumberland, WV, brother, Shawn Kernen of New Cumberland, maternal grandmother, Easter Miller of New Cumberland, WV and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Tom Snodgrass officiating.  Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.  Calling hours will be one hour prior to services from 10-11 am at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.  Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
