Charles Robert "Bob" McCloskey, age 72 of Minerva, died March 8, 2011 in his home among his family after surviving a lung transplant for 4 years. He was born Sept. 15, 1938 in Wellsville, OH to the late Charles and Mary (Hunter) McCloskey. He was a retired Millwright having worked 38 years for TRW Metals and PCC Airfoils, co-owner of McCloskey's Village Place & Pub, was a US Navy Veteran where he served on the USS McNair (DD 679) during the Cuban Missile Crisis and a member of the Minerva VFW Post #4120. He was also a member of the Minerva First Presbyterian Church and had a passion for family and golf having been the 2003 Great Trail Golf Course Club Champion.
He is survived by his wife Dona M. (Crawford) McCloskey whom he married Dec. 29, 1962; 3 children, Bobby (Lori) McCloskey of the US Navy Base in Guantanamo Bay; Cuba, Shaun (Malinda) McCloskey of Powell, OH, Christian (Kerry) McCloskey of Westerville, OH; 3 sisters, Arlene Chettle of Wellsville, Mary Ann Madison of Salineville, Bonnie Carpenter of Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, Nichole, Gabriella, Cameron, Kiera, Kaitlyn and Thomas and 2 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son Christopher McCloskey; a sister, Janice Reeder and a brother, Tom McCloskey.
Funeral services with full military honors will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday in the Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Kensington with Rev. Joel Gingrich and close family friend Dick Barnard officiating. Calling hours will be Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. Memorial donations may be made to the National Foundation for Transplants in Bob's name.
