Charles G. Hassler

Age 92, of Kensington, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 in the Arbors of Minerva. He was born June 27, 1926 in Hanoverton to Emmit and Sarah (Clapsaddle) Hassler. He retired from the Minerva Local Schools where he was a custodian at Hazen Jr. High. He was also the owner of the A&W Root Beer Stand in Alliance.  He is a US Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty (Waugh) Hassler whom he married in 1947, daughter, Linda Kreitzer of East Rochester, daughter-in-law, Tamara Caretta-Hassler of Damascas, grandson, Ethan (Samantha) Hassler, 2 grandchildren; Audrey and Charlotte. He is preceded in death by a son Wade Hassler, son-in-law, Gerald Kreitzer, brother, Frank Hassler and a sister, Hazel Hassler.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 12 noon in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. John Carpenter officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Calling hours will be Wednesday 2 hours prior to services from 10-12. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
