Charles M. Ellyson

Age 86, of East Rochester, passes away, Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 12, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio to Clarence and Dessie Mae (Leckrone) Ellyson. He was a hay broker, truck driver, farmer and owner of Sun Hill Farms.  He is a member of the Damascus Friends Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher.  He graduated from Augusta High School and attended The Ohio State University.  He was a member of the Board of Education of United Local Schools for 12 years, former President of the Band Boosters and a member of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie (Crawford) Ellyson whom he married June 2, 1956, 2 daughters, Joan (Joe) Thomas of East Rochester, Sharon (Earl) Trimmer of Beloit, 3 sons, Charles (Diana) Ellyson of Fayetville, GA, Michael (Lisa) Ellyson of Kensington, Eric (Kristen) Ellyson of Kensington, sister, Nancy (Tim) Flip of Beloit, sister-in-law, Lucille Ellyson of East Rochester, 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Ellyson and granddaughter, Joscelin.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Damascus Friends Church with Tom Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Damascus Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 5-9 pm at the Damascus Friends Church and 10:30 to 11:00 am on Tuesday prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to Malone College, The Samaritan's Purse or the Aultman-Alliance Hospice.
