Carl David Rinehart
Age 89, of Minerva, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 24, 2016. Carl was born Sept. 30, 1927 near Mapleton to James V. and H. Irene (Carl) Rinehart. His parents and a sister, Martha Frake preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Glenna Jean (Hane) Rinehart whom he married Oct. 15, 1950; his children, Gail Rinehart of Columbus, Anne (Brian) McKarns of Minerva, Andy (Annette) Rinehart of Minerva and a special daughter, Laura Millsap of Pittsburgh, PA; 5 grandchildren, Lyle (Becky) McKarns of Wiscasset, ME, Cassie McKarns of Brunswick, ME, Jaclyn (Nicholas) Michel of Lakewood, Leanna (Stelios) Theophanous of Newport News, VA, David Rinehart of Minerva and a great granddaughter, Sullivan McKarns of Wiscasset, ME. He is also survived by a sister, Bernice (Harvey) Geiger and many nieces and nephews.
Carl attended East Canton Schools and began farming at age 15. He loved the land and being outdoors. Hunting was his favorite hobby. Places of employment include Klutz Surveying, Malvern Feed and Supply, Crowl Lumber Co. and Malvern Products. As an active member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, he served as an elder, trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. After retiring as a lifelong dairy farmer, Carl moved from Kensington to Minerva and is a member of the Minerva First Christian Church where he is a member of the Four Square Sunday School Class. Being a Carroll County Farm Bureau member, Council 2L was an intricate part of his life.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Minerva First Christian Church with Pastor Dale Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Robertsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 4-7 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alliance Hospice or the church. Carl's parting words of wisdom are…The best attributes of a good life are humility and forgiveness to others and a strong belief in God our Father.
