Obituary

Carey Lynn Long, age 32, of Kensington, went home to be with the Lord, June 29, 2015 in Alliance Community Hospital. She was born July 9, 1982, in Alliance, OH, to the most loving parents, Homer and Shirley (Manning) Long of Kensington. She was born with a very rare heart defect. On November 2, 1982, she had open heart surgery which had many complications and her odds of surviving were very slim. She proved how strong she was and beat those odds for 32 years. Carey is a 2003 graduate of Carroll Hills School and enjoyed going out to the movies, eating at Arby's, driving the horses, Pete and Dick, with her dad, and was an avid game show watcher (Yes, she knew all the answers!), and there was not a song on the radio that she didn't know every word to. Best of all she loved just sitting on the porch watching the world go by.

In addition to her parents, she leaves behind 7 siblings, her sister and Best Friend, Bressa Long of Minerva; special sisters, Amanda Long of Canton, Christy (Dave) Long of Hallshead, Australia, Lisa Manning of Pekin; special brothers, Ricky Horton of East Rochester, Tim Manning of East Rochester, and Robert Manning of Alliance. Carey had a very special love for her nieces and nephews, Charlee Coyle, Madison Joy, Elyse Plavka, Allisha (Kasey) Blackburn, Ethan Plavka, Caleb Horton, Eli and Leo Hunt; and great nephew, James Blackburn; and her beloved dog, Jack, who never left her side.

Carey was very special and loved by all she came in contact with, including very special Aunts and Uncles, Rena and Mel Kimble, which she talked to several times a day, Mary (Bob) Ford, Nancy (Bill) Mitchell, Bud Long, Hugh (Martha) Long, John (Jean) Manning, Cliff (Carol) Eberling, Jim (Dorothy) Eberling and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Hugh and Opal Long, maternal grandparents, John and Samantha Manning; and several aunts and uncles; and her beloved dog, Sadie.

Funeral services will be 11:00 Monday in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Those unable to attend may sign the online register book at www.Gotschallfuneralhome.com.
