Robert "Bobby" Cooper

Age 87, of Robertsville, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025.  He was born April 21, 1938 in Barberton to Robert and Ruth (Hartline) Cooper. He retired from Canton Castings where he was a foreman and had previously worked for TRW in Minerva. He was a lifetime member of the Robertsville Volunteer Fireman where he had served as Chief and was instrumental in forming the Robertsville Ambulance Service as part of the fire department.  He graduated from Minerva High School in 1956 and loved to spend his free time playing cards, fishing, bowling or flying his private plane.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn "Punky" Cooper whom he married June 21, 1959, daughter, Melinda Cooper of Canton, daughter-in-law, Barbara Hickman of Canton, sister, Norma Jean Smith of FL, brother, Richard Cooper of Paris, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 pm in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Terry Bailey officiating.  Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.  Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services on Monday from 11am to 1 pm at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Stark County Humane Society.  Those wishing to send condolences may sign the online register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com.
